Why Do So Many People Hate George Bush?

I recently saw this question posed on a message board and figured I would share my thoughts on here.  They came up with things such as his Christian faith, his handling of Iraq, and his various domestic policies.  I would say that these are partially true but it goes much deeper.

I believe the heart of the hatred for George Bush is moral relativism.  The idea of moral relativism most clearly distinguishes those in this country who are conservative from those who are liberal in their political and religious beliefs.  For most people with liberal political and religious ideology, the belief of an absolute right and wrong is foreign to them.  They reject the notion of absolutes preferring to believe that right and wrong is up to the individual.

This is where the hatred of George Bush stems from.  George Bush, according to his views, has clearly defined good and evil in his foreign policy strategy.  In his axis of evil speech he established who are good guys and who are bad guys.  America, Israel, Great Britain, and our other allies are the good guys while Iran, Iraq, North Korea, and their allies are the bad guys.  Since most liberals do no accept absolute right and wrong, good and bad, this bothers them.  From their perspective, they do not see America and our way of life as better than anyone else.  They even go as far as to put blame on America for causing some of the behaviors of these nations by attempting to establish our "American Empire" across the globe.  They see George Bush attempting to force our values, which these other nations do not share, on the rest of the world.

The idea of moral relativism has led to a lack in nationalism and love of the American way.  They do not see America as better than any other countries in the world.  This also leads to a globalist view rather than a nationalist view.  To the liberal, they look at themselves more as a citizen of the global community rather than a citizen of America.  America happens to be the country in which they live but they are part of a larger community.  That is why they put so much trust and emphasis on the United Nations.  It greatly angers them when George Bush does go along with the global majority.  While he did have a resolution authorizing the use of force in Iraq along with a group of several nations, he did not have the consent of the entire United Nations when he sent troops into Iraq.  This action led to the false belief that he acted unilaterally when he "invaded" Iraq.  This lack of nationalism from the left has led liberals on the Supreme Court and in Congress to look to foreign countries as a source for setting and establishing American policy.  They do not view the Constitution as the ultimate source of guidance in our country because other countries have done things differently.

Moral relativism definitely causes liberals to spew hatred towards George Bush when it comes to his religious beliefs.  He is quite open about his faith which has caused  the "Religious Right Fundamentalists Christians" to give him their support.  This scares the relativist left because they view "Christian Fundamentalists", even more so than "Muslim Fundamentalists", as the biggest threat to world peace.  In Jimmy Carter's interview with Der Spiegel Magazine he essentially compared Christians who hold a literal interpretation of the Bible and oppose things such as abortion to Muslims who cut off the heads of Christians and Jews.  He, along with much of the liberal relativist left, see no distinction between these two groups.  To them, opposing abortion is no different than cutting off heads.  In fact, they actually become apologists for the Muslims cutting off heads by putting the blame for these actions on American foreign policy.  Because George Bush has come out in opposition to abortion, homosexual marriage, and other moral issues they view him as an intolerant Christian religious bigot making him part of the most dangerous group of people in the world.

The liberal left in America have declared themselves the intellectual superiors in this country and look at anyone who differs from them as idiots.  If you genuinely believe in religion you are weak minded.  If you oppose abortion you are stupid and want to take away women's rights.  If you oppose homosexual marriage you are ignorant and intolerant.  If you believe in absolutes you are simple minded.  The Bible says something about knowledge that I find interesting.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

The liberal left in this country definitely do not dear the Lord.  They scoff at the idea of an all powerful, all knowing, eternal God.  Well, this God tells these self-proclaimed intellectuals that they do not even have the beginning of knowledge.

George Bush is not perfect.  He makes mistakes.  He is not a great speaker.  I disagree with him on certain issues.  The "Fundamentalists" on the left hate our President though because they are intolerant of anyone who does not hold their moral relativist views of the world and, as the moral compass Jimmy Carter said, you cannot negotiate with "Fundamentalists".

My Thoughts on Jimmy Carter

I found this letter that Ari Fleischer wrote in response to Jimmy Carter's interview to Der Spiegel Magazine.  I have only seen it from other blogs like extrememortman.com, powerlineblog.com, and heyeshivaworld.com so I will take it a little lightly until I see it from another source.  Either way, the letter nails it in response to Jimmy Carter's pathetic interview regardless of whether it was actually written by Ari Fleischer or not.

Here is my take on Carter.  I will keep it short and to the point.  He was a pathetic President and even worse as an Ex-President.  Sure, he won a Nobel Peace Prize but so did Yasser Arafat leaving that argument pretty much worthless.  He helped bring huge instability to the region in Iran while in office helping lead to the leadership they have now.  Unemployment and interest rates were outrageously high.  I don't know why this pathetic man keeps speaking but he is doing great damage to our nation and puts our troops in harms way every time he opens his mouth.

In his interview he accuses (Christian) "fundamentalists" of looking at those who disagree with him as sub-human.  He tells us that you cannot negotiate with Christian "fundamentalists".  He then goes on to tell us that we must negotiate with Muslim "fundamentalists" such as Hezbollah.  This man is so insane and equates Christians who oppose things like abortion and homosexual marriage to Muslims who cut off heads of Jews and Christians.  I take that back, he thinks the Christians are worse and pose a greater threat to world peace.  What an idiot.  Please Mr. Carter, go away and quit doing interviews.

Evolution or Creation: Which is Anti-Science?

I recently saw a blog discussing the debate in Kansas over the inclusion of Intelligent Design in classrooms along with the teaching of evolution. The blog referred to proponents of "ID" as anti-science conservatives and proponents of evolution as pro-science. I commented on post and received a very predictable and quite common response. I was called names and told that everyone knows that evolution is not used to explain the origin of life but to describe the advancement of a species. While this may be a textbook definition of evolution found in a Biology book it is very dishonest in the debate over creation and evolution. Evolution, as taught in our classrooms, is in fact used as an accepted fact when describing the origin of the universe and life here on Earth. Here is why I accept Biblical Creation over evolution.

I do not reject evolution and choose creation because it is statistically impossible to randomly create a single living cell from non-living matter such as amino acids that supposedly existed in the primordial earth before life began. One calculation I saw went like this: If you take the age of the universe as proclaimed by George Smoot from the University of Cal Berkeley X the total matter in the universe X the number of conceivable interactions between subatomic particles per second and divide it by the necessary number of events to create a single living cell from non-life you come up with a probability of 1 in 10 to the 99,999,999,879th power or approximately 0. Evolution would require more events between non-living building blocks than time allows for (granting the assumption to the evolutionists that the Earth is over 3 billion years old).

I do not reject evolution and choose creation because of the lack of fossil evidence supporting evolution and providing the "missing links" clearly showing the progressive transition from amino acids to complex human life. Those fossils which did provide the missing link were later shown to be hoaxes or wishful thinking by scientists hoping that their discovery would be the proof they had long been searching for. Such hoaxes include the Piltdown Man, the Java Man, the Peking Man, the Nebraska Man, Ramapithecus, and most famously Lucy. All were declared to be that elusive missing link that would finally nail the coffin on creation yet all were later found to be nothing more than a little egg on the face of their proponents.

I do not reject evolution and choose creation because of all the failed or contrived experiments conducted to prove how life could be created from non-life in the appropriate environment. One of the most famous was the Stanley Miller experiment. It is true that Stanley Miller was able to create a couple of the building blocks needed from non-life under this contrived environment which most likely did not accurately represent the early Earth. However, it took "Intelligent Design" to come up with this experiment and set up the "perfect conditions" needed to randomly produce the building blocks of life. (Can you have an experiment to demonstrate random creation when the experiment is set-up and controlled by a designer?) Along with the building blocks created was a byproduct of toxic tar which would have destroyed any life had this been the way life actually did begin here on Earth. Slightly inconvenient I would say but hey, who am I to judge? Along with include the fact that these experiments required the Earth's atmosphere to be void of oxygen meaning the Sun's ultraviolet radiation would freely enter the Earth's atmosphere destroying any sort of early life that may have formed. Another slight inconvenience but who is counting?

I do not reject evolution and choose creation because simple things here on Earth such as computers, cars, and buildings require a designer and a creator making the idea of random chance and countless mutations resulting in infinitely more complex human life a little hard to accept. Evolution requires us to accept that complex things like the human eye, blood clotting, reproduction, the brain, and the DNA code itself came about by accident. Writing down the information encoded in the human body would require enough books to fill the Grand Canyon 50 times over. Life is far too complex to happen by chance with nothing guiding its path from a single cell to a complex thinking human being.

No, none of these are the reason I reject evolution and choose creation. I choose creation because that is how God told us we got here. The Bible starts off by giving us God's account on How he formed the universe and create life here on Earth. Every time I have doubted or challenged God, He has been right and I have been wrong. Everything He tells us about life holds true whether it be regarding sin, prophecy, human nature, or science. I have sought God's counsel during my life on decision that needed to be made and I was right every time I followed His guidance. He has never let me down and He has never taken me down the wrong path. It may have seemed to be the wrong path at the time but was the perfect one when I looked back after arriving at the destination. If God has been right all of those times, why would I think He is wrong about this one?

Problems with Townhall Blogs

I am having a hard time figuring out this site.  I try to add a blockquote and it gives me a message that I need to update my command list.  I don't see anything that allows me to update a command list.  Also, when I try to post a comment on another blog it gives me a page telling me that the page I am looking for is not recognized and won't post my comment.  It also will not allow me to add sitemeter code nor change my template.  When I try to change my template it tells me that the sitemeter code is invalid.  Any suggestions for configuring this thing?

The Fruits of Homosexual Marriage

This article on Worldnetdaily is a great example of what "gay marriage" has and will continue to do to the fabric of our society.  Anytime this topic is brought up for discussion the proponents always shout out the talking points, "How does homosexual marriage affect your life?" and "How could you deny two people who love each other the right to marry?".  They do not discuss the real issues surrounding this topic but rely on the emotions

In this case, two lesbians from Virginia went to Vermont to get a marriage license since Vermont was the first state to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples.  They were "legally" wed in Vermont and moved back to Virginia.  One of the women was inseminated and gave birth to a baby and the three of them lived as a happy couple.

Well, here is where the story takes a very interesting turn both socially and legally.  The woman who gave birth to the baby became a Christian, turned away from her homosexual lifestyle, and filed for divorce from her partner.  Her partner never legally adopted the baby so she had no legal or biological relationship to the child.  Making this even more interesting, Virginia does not recognize homosexual marriages so the two women are not legally married in Virginia, only Vermont.  Because of the passing of the Defense of Marriage Act, Virginia is not obligated to recognize Vermont's marriage license.  Since the couple resides in Virginia, Virginia courts ruled that the other woman has no custody rights to the child and the child's mother has no obligation to allow any contact with the child to her former homosexual partner.  In a separate ruling, the Vermont court claims that it has jurisdiction in this case and ruled that the woman's former partner does in fact have custody rights since she was legally married to the mother according to Vermont state law.

Sounds confusing huh?  Now we have a case in our courts pitting one state against another in a battle between state parental custody rights and state marriage rights as well as an individual's right to religious freedom guaranteed by the 1st Amendment.  We have a child who now has divorced parents, though they were never legally married according to Virginia state law, one of which is her biological Christian mother and the other her mom's former lesbian lover and ex-wife according to Vermont state law.

People who claim that granting homosexuals the right to marry does not hurt society need to prepare for more court battles like this.  This is going to become a very common occurrence in our courtrooms because the battle for homosexual marriage has nothing to do with marriage rights and equal treatment under the law.  This entire issue is about social acceptance and governmental recognition that the homosexual lifestyle is equally as natural and normal as heterosexual relationships. Most of the homosexuals that applied for marriage licenses did so on emotion rather than from a desire to enter into a long term government recognized committed relationship.  I say this because a piece of paper does not make a marriage.  Marriage does not exist because government grants pieces of paper.  Marriage exists when two people, specifically a man and a woman, decide to commit their lives together often leading to having children and raising a family.  If these homosexual couples really cared about the marriage itself they wouldn't need the government to legally recognize it.  Nobody prevents them from living in a committed relationship and nowadays, nobody prevents them from having children together.  Some will argue that with legally recognized marriages comes spousal rights but most of these rights can be obtained through other legal means.

The Defense of Marriage Act will conflict with the recognition of homosexual marriage in a couple of states and will lead to many more legal battles as these homosexual marriages end in divorce.  In fact, the first "married" homosexual couple of Hillary and Julie Goodridge are now split up and seeking a divorce.  They were the two that brought the issues to the courts in Massachusetts leading to their ruling that prohibiting homosexual marriage violates the state constitution.

I hear the argument all the time that heterosexual marriage is already in bad shape since there are so many divorces.  How would allowing homosexual marriages make it worse?  Because traditional marriage is in bad shape and in need of fixing does not give reason to change the entire meaning of the word marriage and allow another group to be given the same status.  We have many restrictions on who can and cannot marry so the equal rights argument does not hold up.  These cases are providing a clear picture of what allowing homosexual marriages will do to our society.  I do not want to think about what will happen in this country if there ever comes a day when we embrace a redefining of marriage altogether.

Why Did Jesus Die on the Cross?

I have been reading some other blogs from members of the Friends Church nearby regarding their pacifist beliefs. They address the issues of our current war on global terrorism as well as killing in general and claim that no form of killing is acceptable. They believe that Jesus came to earth and died on the cross not only to atone for sins but to overcome all evil in our world. Jesus' death on the cross was God's method of overcoming the evil we face and it is our duty to follow this example when faced with threats such as Adolf Hitler and the Nazi's of World War II or Islamofascists that terrorize people all over the world.

To me, this shows a terrible misinterpretation and understanding of what Jesus meant when he said that we are to love our enemies and turn the other cheek when our enemy slaps us in the face. Jesus was speaking on a personal level when someone wrongs us. It is our duty to respond with kindness rather than vengeance. Jesus demonstrated this when he was silent before his accusers before being sent to the cross. He could have defended himself but chose not to. In a similar sense, we are to respond to wrongdoing with prayer and forgiveness. Jesus was not, however speaking of turning the cheek on a grander scale. When Hitler was murdering the Jews by the masses were we to sit by and pray for Hitler that he would stop? When Japan attacked us at Pearl Harbor should we have responded by allowing them to strike another base? When Hitler was marching through Europe with the intent of world domination was it wrong to fight back? I am not sure you could make a strong biblical case that we were to let evil run free. According to the pacifist view of the Friends Church the answer to Hitler would have been to remain silent as we were sent to our death just as Jesus did.

Jesus did not come to earth to die on the cross to overcome evil. That was not his purpose. His purpose for his first coming was overcome death and sin. We are all fallen and sinful beings deserving of eternity in Hell but our loving Savior and God wanted to atone for our sins and welcome us into Heaven so we could spend eternity in His presence. This act of self-sacrifice and love did overcome our sins and eminent death but did not overcome evil in the world. Evil is still very present on this earth as we see daily as Islamic Fanatics use their religion blow up innocent civilians around the world. Jesus will ultimately overcome evil when he returns a second time but until then it is our duty to fight for peace by responding to the evils we face. It was our obligation as a nation under the True and Living God to fight against the evil of the Nazi's just as it is our obligation to fight against the evil of the Islamofascists.

Another topic that was brought up was the death penalty. This has been in the news recently with the execution of Stanley "Tookie" Williams in California. They claim that killing people is wrong even if we are killing people who kill people. Those who carry out the death penalty are no different than those who committed the original murders. They say that it is not our place to play God by taking the life of another human being but I would counter that it was the murder who was in fact playing God. They played God when they decided it was time for another's life to end. They played God by sending their victim to their appointed death. It is our duty to end this murderer's life, as we are told in Genesis 9:6 "Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man, so they can meet their Creator and face their eternal judgment. By using the death penalty, we are not playing God but rather allowing God to "play God" and judge this man's sins. When done properly and biblically, which we do not do in this country, the death penalty is also a deterrent to those who may commit murder by making it known that they will face their judgment in the next life.

I do not understand the Christian pacifist's mindset when it comes to matters of life, death, and killing. They really distort the message of Jesus to fit a false reality that chooses to ignore the evils of the world. Yes, Jesus did turn the other cheek and suffer death as a result. Yes, he does tell us as individuals to turn the other cheek and love our enemies. But, no, he does not tell us as a nation to stand by and turn the other cheek when millions of innocent people are being murdered by the evil men that share this planet with us.

The Danger of Replacement Theology

In May of 1948, the Jews did something that put a huge damper on the Church's acceptance of "replacement theology".  For anyone who doesn't know what replacement theology is, it is the belief that the Jews are no longer God's chosen people.  Because they rejected Jesus as the Messiah, God rejected Israel, removed His blessings from them, and replaced the Jews as His chosen people with the Church.  This sounded very good for a long time because shortly after Jesus died and rose again, Israel was wiped out and the Jews were scattered by the Romans in 70 AD.  Israel no longer existed so it made sense that all future prophecy related to Israel was actually intended for the "New Israel" aka the Church.  Israel was merely a metaphor to refer to the new group of believers who became God's newly chosen people.

One huge problem with this theology is that it ignored God's everlasting covenant to Abraham from Genesis 17 that his descendants, the Jewish people, would forever be God's chosen people.  The only condition God put on Abraham was that his people would be circumcised.  There was nothing said about following His law or being righteous as long as they lived.  To this day, one of the few things the Jews follow without exception is the ritual of circumcision.  However, this covenant did seemed easy to ignore for the New Testament Church believers because Israel no longer existed as a nation after 70 AD making it appear as though God removed His favor from the Jews and gave it to His Church.  This is where 1948 comes into play.  Between 70 and 1948 that land was controlled by various groups but the nation of Israel was re-established following World War II.  The Jews were regathering in their homeland and the nation of Israel was reborn, perfectly fulfilling the prophecy in Ezekiel 37.  This caused a huge shift in the theology of the Church.  What would they do now that Israel was once again a nation?  Did the church really replace Israel?  Was Israel to be taken as a metaphor even though its existence was once again literal.

To answer these questions, all you need to do is read what Paul tells us in Romans 9, 10, and 11.  God is not done with Israel.  He has a plan with Israel and will restore them as they realize that their Messiah had already come.  The Bible is very clear with what God intends to do with His chosen people, the Jews.  Throughout the scriptures we are told that the Jews will always be His people.  They have not been perfect by any means.  They have messed up tremendously throughout their existence causing God to deal with them very harshly but He always restores them.  This time is no different.

Romans 9:1-9
 9:1  I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit,
 9:2  that I have great sorrow and unceasing grief in my heart.
 9:3  For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh,
 9:4  who are Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons, and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the Law and the temple service and the promises,
 9:5  whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.
 9:6  But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;
 9:7  nor are they all children because they are Abraham's descendants, but: "THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL BE NAMED."
 9:8  That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.

The meaning here is that the Jews were God's chosen people through the promised seed of Abraham, Isaac. The fleshly seed spoken of here are the descendants of Abraham through Ischmael.  Both are seeds of Abraham but God promised him a son through Sarah.  Because he did not believe God, he bore a son through Hagar.  Flesh always speaks of sin so Abraham bore a son in sin by not having faith in God's promise.

Romans 10:19-21
 10:19  But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says, "I WILL MAKE YOU JEALOUS BY THAT WHICH IS NOT A NATION, BY A NATION WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING WILL I ANGER YOU."
 10:20  And Isaiah is very bold and says, "I WAS FOUND BY THOSE WHO DID NOT SEEK ME, I BECAME MANIFEST TO THOSE WHO DID NOT ASK FOR ME."
 10:21  But as for Israel He says, "ALL THE DAY LONG I HAVE STRETCHED OUT MY HANDS TO A DISOBEDIENT AND OBSTINATE PEOPLE." </blockquote>
We are told here that God offered salvation to the Gentiles in order to provoke His people to Jealousy.  Their Messiah came through the line of Abraham for the Jewish people.  Through their rejection, salvation came to the rest of the world as we see here in Romans 11.
<blockquote class=withborder>Romans 11:1-36
 11:1  I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
 11:2  God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?
 11:3  "Lord, THEY HAVE KILLED YOUR PROPHETS, THEY HAVE TORN DOWN YOUR ALTARS, AND I ALONE AM LEFT, AND THEY ARE SEEKING MY LIFE."
 11:4  But what is the divine response to him? "I HAVE KEPT for Myself SEVEN THOUSAND MEN WHO HAVE NOT BOWED THE KNEE TO BAAL."
 11:5  In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God's gracious choice.
 11:6  But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.
 11:7  What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened;
 11:8  just as it is written, "GOD GAVE THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR, EYES TO SEE NOT AND EARS TO HEAR NOT, DOWN TO THIS VERY DAY."
 11:9  And David says, "LET THEIR TABLE BECOME A SNARE AND A TRAP, AND A STUMBLING BLOCK AND A RETRIBUTION TO THEM.
 11:10  "LET THEIR EYES BE DARKENED TO SEE NOT, AND BEND THEIR BACKS FOREVER."
 11:11  I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous.
 11:12  Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be!
 11:13  But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,
 11:14  if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them.
 11:15  For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?
 11:16  If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too.
 11:17  But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree,
 11:18  do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you.
 11:19  You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in."
 11:20  Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear;
 11:21  for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either.
 11:22  Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God's kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off.
 11:23  And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
 11:24  For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?
 11:25  For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery--so that you will not be wise in your own estimation--that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;
 11:26  and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB."
 11:27  "THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS."
 11:28  From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God's choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers;
 11:29  for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
 11:30  For just as you once were disobedient to God, but now have been shown mercy because of their disobedience,
 11:31  so these also now have been disobedient, that because of the mercy shown to you they also may now be shown mercy.
 11:32  For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all.
 11:33  Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!
 11:34  For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR?
 11:35  Or WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN?
 11:36  For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

This is the key chapter in understanding God's intentions for the Jews and the Gentiles.  We must understand the meaning of the olive tree and the branches here.  Christ is the Root.  The Jews were the natural branches coming off the Root.  When the Jews rejected Jesus as the Messiah, they were cut off of the tree and new branches, Gentile believers making up the Church, were grafted in.  Through the Jews mistake salvation was offered to the rest of the world.  Keep in mind though that it says we were made a nation and grafted in to provoke them to jealousy.  Their removal from the Root is not permanent as the Replacement Theologists believe.  It gives us a warning not to be too high on ourselves and our own righteousness because we may be cut off also.

Romans 11:17-21
 11:17  But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree,
 11:18  do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you.
 11:19  You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in."
 11:20  Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear;
 11:21  for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either.

These verses warn us not to speak arrogantly against the branches.  We are not any more righteous than the Jews.  Our salvation comes from the Grace of God and not of works.  We have not earned being grafted onto the Root.  Our righteousness come soley through Christ and not of our own works.  With this being said, we can not condemn the Jews for their rejection because all of us deserve eternal damnation in Hell, not just them.

One day, the Jewish people will once again return to the Lord and accept Jesus Christ as their promised Messiah.  They missed Him the first time but they will not the second time.  I believe that this second time is coming quickly as we watch the events unfold in the Middle East.  Jews, Christians, and Muslims are all looking for their Messiah to come very soon.  As Christians, are we ready?  Jesus told us to pray that we may escape the things that are about to happen to this world.  We must continue to support Israel and the Jews because they are the natural branches of the tree we have been grafted into.
